High-intent PSLE paths

P6 papers by subject

The PSLE tests four subjects for most students, and each one rewards a different kind of practice. Start from the subject, then open a paper.

P6 Maths: the PSLE has two Maths papers, and a calculator is allowed only in Paper 2. School P6 papers follow the same split, so practise the short no-calculator questions for speed and the long problem sums for clear, step-by-step working.

P6 Science: multiple-choice questions first, then open-ended questions where marks depend on using the right scientific words. Mark these strictly: an answer that is roughly right but misses the keyword usually loses the mark.

P6 English: grammar, vocabulary, editing, synthesis and comprehension in the language paper, plus composition and situational writing. Time the writing paper on its own; it is where children most often run out of time.

P6 Chinese: language use, comprehension and composition. Comprehension answers should come from the passage, in full sentences, which is worth practising on several schools' papers.

Topic focus

Most tested PSLE topics

Across the P6 papers on this site, these topics come up in the most papers. Each link opens a short explainer with practice questions, so a weak topic found in a paper can be fixed before the next one.

Revision sequence

A PSLE revision plan using past papers

  1. Early in P6, use WA and SA1 papers on topics already taught. Do one paper per subject every week or two, and mark each one.
  2. Keep a list of mistakes by topic, skill and question type. After three or four papers, the same few topics usually show up again and again.
  3. Spend the weeks in between on those topics, not on more papers. A topic explainer and a short practice set do more than another full paper.
  4. In the last months, switch to full P6 prelim papers under timed conditions, with the same start time and breaks as the real exam.
  5. Use papers from different schools. Each school writes questions its own way, and variety is closer to what the PSLE will feel like.

Prelim focus

P6 prelim papers

Primary 6 students sit the PSLE instead of a school end-of-year exam, so each school sets a preliminary exam: a full rehearsal in the weeks before the PSLE, in the PSLE format. There are 293 of them here, from 2019 to 2025. They are the best papers for timed practice in the final months; save the newest ones for last.
