Both 9 and 15 divide by 3: 9 ÷ 3 = 3 and 15 ÷ 3 = 5, giving 3/5.

Change 1/2 into 2/4, then 2/4 + 1/4 = 3/4.

1/3 is the same as 2/6, so 5/6 − 2/6 = 3/6.

32 ÷ 8 = 4 for one eighth, and 3 × 4 = 12 pupils.

1/3 is 3/9, so 2/9 + 3/9 = 5/9.
Ravi read 2/7 of a book on Monday and 3/7 on Tuesday. What fraction of the book is still unread?
Answer: 2/7
He read 2/7 + 3/7 = 5/7, so 7/7 − 5/7 = 2/7 is unread.
