    Both need two cells to join, both call it fertilisation, and both produce varied offspring. Where they differ is that a human baby develops inside the mother.

    W is the joining of a sperm and an egg, which is fertilisation.

    Answer: through the umbilical cord, from the mother's blood

    Everything the baby needs — oxygen and food — crosses from the mother's blood and travels along the umbilical cord.
